Just finished reading...

Drip Dead (Georgina Neverall #3) by Christy Evans.*

Another in the growing ranks of mystery series whose female protagonists have unusual careers, this series follows the adventures of Georgiana (Georgie) Neverall, a former computer security expert who leaves the corporate life behind to move back to her hometown in Oregon and become a plumber's apprentice.

Though this is the third book in the series, enough background is provided to make the reader feel acquainted with Georgie. As this book begins, she is underneath the house that she grew up in checking the pipes prior to purchasing it from her about-to-be married mother.

To her horror, she finds the body of her mother's fiancé, Gregory Whitlock, who appears to be dead. Even more alarming, her mother is arrested for the crime. Although Georgie finds Sandra Neverall annoying and frustrating, she's certain that her parent is not a killer, and sets out to discover what actually happened.

Georgie's rocky relationship with her mother is extremely realistic, and many daughters will sympathize with Georgie's inconsistent emotional responses. Also some good descriptions of close female friendships and rekindling romance with her high school sweetheart.

Now to find the time to read the first two books in the series!

*FTC Full Disclosure: Many thanks to the publisher, who sent me a copy of the book for review purposes.
