Left Coast Crime Recap: Thursday

Tod and I arrived home from Santa Fe yesterday afternoon. I had quite a bit of trouble adjusting to the 7,000 foot altitude. (I live at almost 23 feet above sea level!) Now that I'm home, I'm having a little trouble re-adjusting.

But I had a great time at The Big Chile.
Tod and I stayed at La Fonda on the Plaza, a lovely historical building in Old Santa Fe.

On Thursday, the opening afternoon of the con, the panel I was moderating was scheduled at 3:00 p.m. The title I'd been given was "Growing New Readers", which seemed a bit ambiguous to me.
My panelists (l-r), Rebecca Cantrell (aka Bekka Black), Chris Eboch, me, Lea Wait and Andi Davis.

But, thankfully, the panel went well, and I didn't embarrass myself at all (at least that I can remember).

After that I was too drained to attend any more panels, so I went to my room to lie down for a while. When Tod returned from his sight-seeing (wasn't it brave of him to join me on this junket?) we went for an early dinner at my favorite Santa Fe restaurant El Farol, and got back to the hotel in time for a presentation by Tony Hillerman's daughter Anne and her husband, Don Strel. They discussed their collaborative book Tony Hillerman's Landscape and showed some slides of the wonderful photography.

That was pretty much the end of the day for me. We went back to the room and we watched television for a while, although I crashed pretty quickly.

I already posted about Friday morning, so my next post will be about Friday afternoon and Saturday.

  1. You did a great job as moderator. And it was nice to meet you in real life instead of just online :)
