Tempest in the Tea Leaves by Kari Lee Townsend.*

Sunny Meadows is about as different from her parents as one could possibly be. Her father is a physician, her mother an attorney. Finally, at the age of 29, she decides to take charge of her life, buying an old Victorian home in the small town of Divinity, New York and starting a fortunetelling business.

The house she buys is old and in great need of work. The first thing that Sunny does is to create a room that she calls her sanctuary, where she can do readings. Her first client in Divinity is the town librarian who comes in for a tea leaf reading. When Sunny foresees Amanda's murder, she contacts the police, who are unconvinced. But just a short while later, Amanda's body is discovered and Sunny is the prime suspect.

Sunny is a delightful character, and it's easy to empathize with a person who is misunderstood by her parents. Ms. Townsend successfully manages not to demonize the elder Meadows, or the majority of the other characters, which helps a great deal in making Sunny's world plausible. This charming and unique entry into the growing numbers of paranormal cozies is definitely worth your time.
